Meet the Pastor

Rev. Dr. William A. Lewis
Dr. Lewis earned his B.A in psychology at the University of Colorado (1983); received his Master of Divinity, Fuller Theological Seminary (1988); a TH.M. from Princeton Theological Seminary, with a focus on Preaching (1995); and Doctorate of Ministry from McCormick Theological Seminary, with a focus on preaching (1998).
Dr. Lewis has been published, including an article about “Churches Calling Pastors” in the January 1999 issue of Theology Matters. The issue has remained the most requested publication even a decade later. His doctoral thesis from McCormick Seminary in Chicago was titled, “Why People Don’t Come to Church – Postmoderns See Church as Irrelevant, Unattractive and Boring!” He also writes for a new online magazine called Getting Real, developed by a former member of his staff at Aurora.
His denominational and ecumenical ministries include chairmanship of subcommittees for his presbyteries, the role of Moderator of General Council for the Homestead Presbytery in Nebraska, and part of a special Transitional Task Force to work with four Executive Presbyters to devise a plan to combine their presbyteries into one. Additionally, Dr. Lewis serves on several boards, including Fremont Homeless and Rehabilitation Center (Care Core), the Hospital Ethics Board for Fremont Area Medical Center, and the Bristol Police Department Youth Aid Panel. Other areas of involvement have included sports ministries where he donates time and coaching skills to various Boxing Clubs and doing pre-game devotions with the Nebraska Midland College Football Team.
When Dr. Lewis wants a different kind of adventure, or just a little stress relief, he hops on his Harley and takes his wife, Michele Lewis. for a scenic ride somewhere. Their conversation generally centers around ministry, the latest books they’re reading (or writing), and their awesome two kids, Elijah and Taylor Grace.
