Bio

I’m often told I don’t have the “accent” but I was born and raised in Central Jersey. I have lived in Florida since 1993, first in Naples for 3 years and then here in Celebration. The Tennant family was among the first 350 families to populate central village – with our boys being two of the 200 kids who attended Celebration School in its first year (1996/1997).

I hold an associate’s degree in Medical Technology and bachelor’s degree in Biology. I worked as a licensed Medical Technologist for 25 years. Here’s how my career transition began. I began attending CommPres at the very first service on Thanksgiving Eve 1996. I then offered to start up the first children’s Sunday School which kicked off in February 1997. Not long after, I became a member of the Launch Team which eventually became the first ordained elders at the chartering of our church in September of the same year.

I served as an elder for Children’s Nurture from Fall 1997 to Fall 2001 and during that time started all Children’s Programming and Special Events that are still in place today. I was hired in September 2001 as the first Director of Children’s Ministry (DCM) of CommPres. The position rapidly grew with more responsibilities added on, including researching and starting up a Preschool. By February 2004, Session approved the hire of a Preschool Director and by August 2004 the doors of Community Presbyterian Church Preschool were opened with great joy.

Besides working with the Preschool Director, the DCM position entails the development and implementation of programming for children from cradle to 5th grade . . . Super Sunday School, mid-week Kids’ Oasis, Homework with Friends, Vacation Bible School, Parent’s Cooperative Ministry, not to mention Childcare. Summer Camp 2008 is in the making! There are also special events – Spring Break Fun, Easter Egg Hunt, Veterans Day Fun, Angel Breakfast, Living Nativity, and various fun field trips. Let’s not forget that I have been blessed over the years with amazing teams of employees and volunteers to make sure all of this happens!

When asked what brought me to Celebration, my answer is simple – God.
